Mentone Golf Club’s Charity Day -10 Oct 2024

It was approaching the end of the Golden Hour as we arrived at Keysborough Golf Club for registration at 7:15 am. Yet, beautiful long shadows stretched across the golf course with shards of golden light piercing through tall eucalypts.
Marching towards our designated tees for the shotgun start, the morning was cool with a sufficiently annoying 16 mph wind that gradually lost its puff as the day progressed. As the Weather Goddess sought redemption for last year’s misconduct, MGC’s Charity Day of 2024 turned out to be a gloriously beautiful day for golf. An act of atonement indeed!
With the on-course activities completed, an eagerly awaited lunch followed. Served from the KGC kitchen lunch was, as usual, a delicious affair. We give our thanks and appreciation to the KGC bar, kitchen and dining room staff for their competent and attentive service.
Following a thoroughly enjoyable lunch, it was down to the serious business of results, raffles and auctions. Jenny announced that members from many other clubs have joined us in support of this very special day. How very heartening.
The tireless Mentone Golf Club committee must be commended for their organisation and management of bookings, play, sales, prizes, auctions and for running the day itself. Central, are the MGC members whose support and generosity ensures that this historically significant event continues.
And finally, a massive Thank You to Keysborough Golf Club for our enjoyment of their beautiful course.
