Season 2024 opens with lunch at Sandy by the Bay
President Elaine Brennan, opened the 2024 season with a lunch held at Sandy-by-the bay. Special Guest was Gaye Berry, Manager of Community Support at Inclusion Melbourne. In a thoughful and sincere speech, Gaye relayed some stories of relationships between volunteers and care recipients, that were simultaneously heart-warming and heart-breaking. It was impossible not to be touched.
In keeping with the club’s long standing legacy of providing Inclusion Melbourne with financial support, a cheque was presented to Gaye Berry by Treasurer Krys Bennett. This is a donation borne of the generosity of MGC members during a very wet but hugely successful Charity Day in October 2023.
In the President’s opening address, eight new members were welcomed, Committee members both re-elected and new were introduced and Life members recognised. Leona Aitken, Pattie Hood and Janine Turnbull were heartily congratulated on reaching their 25th year at Mentone Golf Club.
Appropriately, the day was bright and sunny and the atmosphere convivial.
